FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need a referral from my Doctor to see a Physiotherapist?

No. You do not need to see your Doctor first. Although, we may ask for your Doctor's contact details so that we can communicate with them when needed. If we feel at any time during your treatment journey that an opinion from your Doctor or a referral for a scan is warranted, we may direct you back to your Doctor for assistance.

  • How long will my Physiotherapy session be?

Your initial consultation will be 60 minutes, however, please arrive 15 minutes earlier to fill out paper work and get familiar with the clinic.

Your subsequent sessions will be 30 minutes in duration, however, we also offer an extended consultation for 60 minutes. This is recommended if treating complex injuries or if treating multiple areas of the body.

  • How often will I need to come to Physiotherapy?

Your management plan will be discussed during your initial consultation. Based on the extent of your injury and your specific needs, we will alter the frequency in which you will attend. Most people come in 1-2 times per week for the duration of their rehabilitation. We commonly see people for maintenance/preventative treatments every fortnight or month. Taking a proactive approach to your health can help reduce acute injuries to keep you at your best.

  • How much do I get back from my health fund?

Your rebate will depend on your level of cover and the health fund you are with.

  • What do I need to bring with me to my session?

Being dressed in comfortable clothing is a good way to ensure we can get you moving on the treatment table or in the gym without feeling restricted. Gowns will be provided where necessary. Ensure you have your health fund/Medicare card with you so that you can claim your rebate on the spot. Also, ensure you bring any scans and reports you may have in relation to your injury, which will help us determine the right treatment for you.

  • Do you bulk bill for Medicare?

Medicare subsidies are available for Physiotherapy. Your GP will consider your eligibility for treatment under Medicare. If you meet the criteria, Medicare will provide a rebate for 5 Physiotherapy sessions in a calendar year.

The process involves paying the full consultation fee upfront, then we process the Medicare rebate and refund the difference on the spot. Here it is step by step:
    • You will pay the full fee upfront, either by cash or Debit card
    • We swipe your Medicare card and access the $52.95 rebate for you
    • We swipe your DEBIT card again and put the $52.95 back onto that card on the spot. Please note, we cannot give cash back to you as the rebate, so please ensure you have your Debit card with you

  • Do you treat feet?

Yes. We have experience in treating feet. Usually this requires an assessment of the regions above - hips, knees, pelvis, rib cage - to determine any contributing factors from possible imbalances from these areas.

  • What is the difference between Physiotherapy, Chiropractic and Osteopathy?

Traditionally, all disciplines see the body in a slightly different way. Assessment protocols used to diagnose injuries are all similar, although the approach may change somewhat. Physiotherapy is reliant on the use of machinery, like ultrasounds and interferential and are more experienced with exercise rehabilitation. Chiropractic treatment is more inclined to provide manipulations. Osteopathy utilises soft tissue manual therapy with a global approach.

At Form Focus, we understand people have a preference for one of these practices, but we manage the person in front of us. We see the body as a whole and we will investigate the underling causes of your pain/dysfunctions and address them, using a variety of treatment strategies.

    Testimonials

We pride ourselves on the best service

    • "The most important people in our lives are our children. So when I discussed with a friend potential physiotherapists to cater to my child’s needs, she instantly recommended Frank. Prior to our first meeting, Frank contacted me by phone to discuss my goals and desired outcomes. He researched my concerns and ensured that upon arrival we ‘hit the ground running’. My daughter was made to feel comfortable and instantly responded in a positive manner. I highly recommend Frank as his expertise and genuine drive to improve your overall health and wellbeing are outstanding."

      - LINDA B

    • "Frank is a passionate individual and is dedicated to his work. His treatments are highly effective but beyond that I’ve learnt so much about how to manage my body. There is a strong focus on correcting my technique which I implement during my training. This has increased my performance immensely."

      - Bianca Lavorato

    • "Frank helped me through my rehabilitation of injuries sustained on the soccer field. He took the time to provide a greater understanding and self-awareness of how my body works. This has limited my injuries and helped me make changes to my posture. I feel I can trust my body more and get through physical activity with less discomfort."
